Sweet Potato

A dicotyledonous plant of the Convolvulaceae family. Its large, starchy, sweet rhizomes are an important root vegetable in many cultures, and intensely loved by many across the world. It resembles the yam, and in North America it is often mistaken as such, though the two tubers are not the least related. In some cultures, sweet potatoes are considered a staple, and its versatility makes it an excellent ingredient for an endless foray of culinary imagination.
