Spearmint
Mentha Spicata

A species of mint native to much of Europe and southwest Asia, spearmint is a perennial plant that grows between 30 and 100 centimetres in height. It often has hairy stems and serrated edged leaves, with pink or white flowers on slender spikes. The leaves lose their aromatic appeal after the plant flowers. It has a distinct yet mild aroma with a warm flavour and cool aftertaste, and is amongst the most favoured of mints for flavouring cuisine, processed mints and cosmetic products.
