Limnophila Aromatica

A member of the plantain family, rice paddy herb is a tropical flowering plant native to Southeast Asia. It is a flowering plant that thrives in tropical climates, with spongy stems, small, round leaves with velvety hairs and a small pale violet flower. It gets its name from the environment in which it best flourishes, on flooded rice fields, where hot temperatures and abundant water contributes to its growth. Its flavour is citrusy, described as a combination of lemon and sweet cumin, and most popularly utilized in Vietnamese cuisine.
