Rhubarb

Though generally considered (or assumed to be) a vegetable, a New York court decided in 1947 that the rhubarb was to be counted as a fruit for the purposes of regulations and duties. Its long, stalk like rhizomes somewhat resemble a cross between a celery and a radicchio. Rhubarbs are tart to taste, and commonly used in pies and other desserts.
