Prunus Domestica L.

The European plum tree is a deciduous fruiting tree, native to China, America and Europe. The plant is distinct in that the shoots are not clustered, and flowers in groups of one to five together on short stems. It has bright green ovate leaves with a crenulated margin that become darker as they mature. Its fruit has soft, round smooth-skinned sweet fruit with sweet flesh and a flattish pointed stone, and is a dark purple in colour. \r\nMature plum fruit may have a dusty-white coating that can be easily cleaned off. Plums are juicy, with a sweet and tart flavour. They are consumed fresh, dried, salted and preserved, as well as used for jams and to make wine.\r\n
