Cultivated for over thousands of years, Pistachio nuts are native largely to West Asia. The pistachio bush grows up to 33 feet in height. The fruit is a drupe; its edible, elongated seed partially exposed and encased in a smooth, cream shell. Pistachios are culinary nuts whose colour varies from mauve to light green – its flavour very unique. A typical pistachio tree yields an average of 50,000 seeds biannually.
