The tough and prickly leaves are known for their very bitter taste indeed. In West Bengal, young Neem leaves are fried in oil with tiny pieces of eggplant as an appetizer, or used in pickles and stews.
Thought to be anthelmintic, anti-fungal, anti-diabetic and anti-bacterial, the Neem plant itself is highly revered in India, and used extensively for over 2 thousand years for their medicinal value. Besides the health benefits, Neem leaves are used as appetizers; otherwise, they are also useful alleviating various digestive problems.
