Mamoncillo/ “Quenepa”

Literally translated to “suck”, referring to the common way of savouring its fruit – like a candy. The tropical fruit favours warmer climates. Thought to be somewhat a cross between a lychee and a lime, its tight, thin skin is traditionally cracked by one’s teeth. Though the flesh of the Mamoncillo is light, its juice is a dark contrast which will stain your clothes if you’re not careful.
