Koseret is an Ethiopian spice belonging to the genus Lippia comprising roughly 200 species of tropical shrubs that are found around the world. It is related to lemon verbena. Koseret is native to East Africa and rarely available outside the region. Koseret has a sweet aroma dominated by linalool, with a light, herbaceous delicate lemon flavour. It is a traditional medicine in Zimbabwe and its extracts are also used in the production of hand creams and cosmetic products.
