Common Knotgrass

A relative of the buckwheat and dock, the annual plant is commonly in fields and wastelands, with flowering white buds from June to October. It is called rau đắng in Vietnam where it is commonly prepared in soup and hot pots. The plant is commonly believed to be astringent, coagulant, diuretic and expectorant, though no actual scientific evidence supports the thesis.
