The taste of the Choyote is thought to vaguely resemble an apple. Its leaves and fruit have diuretic, cardiovascular and anti-inflammatory properties, and a decoction of the leaves are used to treat arteriosclerosis and hypertension, and to dissolve kidney stones. Chayotes are popular around the world in various cuisines and prized for its sweet, fruity and starchy taste. Both its fruit and seed are rich in vitamin C and amino acids, and it is thought that the smaller Chayote fruits are far more tender in comparison to its larger friends.
