Grown for its edible buds, the cruciferous vegetables look like miniature cabbages. Indeed, the cultivar of wild cabbages include a family of collard greens, broccoli, kale and kohlrabi. 

Brussels sprouts contain sulforaphane which have allegedly anti-cancer properties.

Best steamed, microwaved or stir-fried, the vegetables are also a source of indole-3-carbinol which boost dna repair in cells, besides appearing to prevent the growth of cancer cells.
