Areca nut

The Areca nut is also called the betel nut, referring to a common eating style of chewing the nut wrapped in betel leaves. The nut has been recently alleged to contain cancer-inducing properties, following a review of published scientific studies related to health effects of chewing areca nut by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. The nut is thought to induce a mildly stimulating effect, comparable to drinking a cup of coffee.
