Often referred to as woolly mint, applemint is a perennial plant that is a member of the mint family. It is commonly grown throughout Europe and the Western Mediterranean region, for culinary usage as well as ground cover. In flavour, the herb is mild, warm and sweet with a cool aftertaste and strong aroma, and is a preferred varietal for consumption because of these characteristics.
